Nature Biotechnology March 2011

Nature Biotechnology (Nat. Biotechnol.) is an academic journal covering the science and business of biotechnology.

Nature Biotechnology is a continuation of Bio/Technology (Biotechnology (NY); ISSN 0733-222X), which was founded in 1983 and renamed in 1996. It is published monthly by the Nature Publishing Group, a division of Macmillan Publishers Ltd. Like other Nature journals, there is no external editorial board; editorial decisions are made by an in-house team, although peer review by external expert referees forms a part of the review process.

Nature Biotechnology's 2010 impact factor was 31.1, making it the highest cited original research journal in the category of Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology. In comparison, the impact factor of general science journal Nature for the same period was 36.101.

The current editor of Nature Biotechnology is Andrew Marshall. The founding editor of Bio/Technology was Christopher Edwards, who served from 1983 through early 1994. Douglas McCormick edited Bio/Technology from mid 1984 through late 1993. Susan Hassler then became editor, followed by Marshall
